10 Ways to Keep your Digital Photos Organized

10 Ways to Keep your Digital Photos Organized – Techlicious

Check out these tips – they make a lot of sense and I wish I could say I process my photos in exactly this way – every time I import, but I don’t. Like life – I’m going to take what I can use and put the rest on the shelf – maybe someday I’ll need it.

Setting the correct date/time on the camera is a total pet peeve of mine, if you don’t know how to do it – read the directions, follow the steps and if you still don’t get it – ask for help. Because we use our photos for the Send again cards by JillCards, LLC we don’t like to put the date on the photos, but it’s stored in the camera’s memory so that when you import the photos, depending upon your photo processing software – it will at a minimum organize the photos by the date(s) taken.

Delete the photos that literally aren’t worth the space they occupy – do it right away. Upon close inspection after the photos are imported, if it doesn’t work for what you need – delete the photos; face it, not every photo you take is going to turn out – that’s the magic of digital photography – we can delete it now instead of shake our head when the prints were developed (come on those of you 35+ years old remember that feeling of disappointment!).

Facial tags – People tags, call it what you want but I think they basically do the same thing, organize your photos by subject (just like the title says). This is a feature I’ve just started using but already see the benefits. It may take a few moments to put the labels in place but it’ll be worth it when you go looking through your endless digital thumbnails. You’ll thank yourself when you can quickly see an automated file of who you’ve taken pictures of and just how to find them.

Pressing Flowers and Leaves

Pressing Flowers and Leaves
Ever wonder how those “crafty” people get flowers dried and use them to decorate? I can’t honestly say I was craving the answer to that question but Jill was so I thought I’d go out and research it. I found a good site with some fairly simple directions – but better yet and even easier to understand video. I must say I got a lot more out of the video. So I get excited and want to try to see if I can do it. Great time of the year, at least in WI – there’s not a lot of flowers to pick from (this morning temperature was 22 degrees F). Good news folks – I have a flowering tree – don’t ask me the name of it (my Mom knows so I suppose I could call and ask her), anyway so I pulled one of the flowers off of it and proceeded to separate the large petals from the stem. I now have them resting under those God foresaken phonebooks that we still get (yeah, why exactly do they still print those doorstops?) Anyway – I’m trying it per the instructions in the video – stay tuned to see if it works for me but in the meantime – feel free to try it yourself. Good Luck (and if you are as crafty as I am – you’re going to need it! )

I am in looking for guest books to purchase

I am in looking for guest books to purchase for weddings, which have the following:
~lines (to sign) on the right side
~blank on left side (to scrap)
I found one about 5 years ago on eBay, created it and gave it, but didn’t get the specifics on it, to reorder. I have brides out there that would like us to create again, but I am having trouble finding what I need.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Are we missing any of YOUR Holidays or Special Occasions?

There are so many special events or dates in our lives. Some of these dates mean something only to us and possibly our special someone, or so we many think. Using myself as an example, the anniversary of my last drink – my “AA Anniversary/Birthday” as it’s commonly referred to is an annual event that I celebrate. This is not just a date that I celebrate, my family, kids and my AA sponsor all know how much this day means to me.

Can I go into your local “Big Name” greeting card store and find a specific card commemorating this day? Nope – now I can go in and get a Happy Birthday, Anniversary or an Encouragement card but not one that shows just how special this day is to me. I watched an episode of ABC’s Modern Family the other day and learned how Gloria likes to celebrate everything from her relationship with Jay. From what I understand men have trouble remembering their wedding anniversary can you imagine having to remember the date of your first kiss, first date or the exact day you found out you were pregnant? I suppose if I sat down with a calendar or reviewed an old journal I might be able to come up with those dates but off the top of my head the closest I can get is the month in which these happened.

So here’s what I’m looking for – what days or events do you celebrate that are special to you or someone you care about that you’ve always wished there were specific greeting cards designed to help you celebrate? How can JillCards customize a card for you for your special days or events? Let us help with that – as I’ve learned in life there are so many things in which I believe I’m unique and in actuality, there are many who have those same feelings, thoughts or special events.

Help us figure out what those are…..Thanks and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
