My Poppa, My Hero…

Thanks Poppa for so many things, but mainly for standing beside me especially during those times you didn’t understand my decisions/choices. Thanks for not giving up on me, for supporting me and being there when I needed you most!  Even though you are gone now, you have left me with solid ground to stand on, and an everlasting presence!  I love you Poppa!

08/10/2010 Daily Thought

You can have a life filled with awe at any age. You can awake each morning, potentially inspired, centered, with a sense that many options and opportunities stretch before you. Awe is a power unto itself, and by its very nature transforms us. The best part is it is free, natural and continually available. All you need is the willingness to awaken to awe, and to do so by trying a new approach to life.

08/08/2010 Daily Quote

Not one Soul is going to be lost. In fact, there aren’t any lost Souls. The Soul always knows where it is. It just doesn’t care.

The Soul knows it is going to outlast your body, it knows it’s going to outlast the thoughts you’ve been having, it knows it’s going to go beyond the imagination, and your feelings have betrayed you for so long that it pays little attention to them. So why shouldn’t it be happy in these lower worlds?

Our misidentification causes us to go into the quandary of the mind to second-guess. And yet the Soul says, “I’m here, I’m present. I’m not over there. I’m here, I’m present. This is the moment.”

Sitting at a coffee shop…

It’s Monday afternoon and we are observing the Wisconsin River from the famous Blue Spoon Creamery Cafe for some good personal time and excellent coffee.

Something about being at a coffee shop makes me feel more intellectual and very reflective.  Seated upstairs of the Creamery, on the river side window deck, sun shinning down on us, river flowing smoothly and elevator music in the background, sets the perfect mood for another blog on JillCards, LLC.

It’s been 2-weeks since the wedding, and even though there’s definitely more time and less deadlines, I find myself with not enough time in a day.  I love summers because of the later sunsets and unlimited time constraints.  I’m almost finished with our Thank-You cards, so they will be out in the mail soon.

Father’s day is June 20th this year, and I’m in desperate need to get HIS day listed on the website.  I know it’s getting late for all you purchasers, but the cards will be listed by the end of this week, for sure.

I keep telling myself that this first year on the www is the hardest, because each Holiday and Occasion, are the first.  When I start going into the second year, it should not be nearly as laboring.  However; regardless of laboring or not, I am having the time of my life with this endeavor!

I am having a good time re-connecting with old friends and making new acquaintances.  I am loving the feedback and have implemented some suggestions received.  I was pondering over adding a DIY page to the JillCards, LLC website regarding projects and information.

Please give me more; dig deep into yourself, ask other, find the courage, and post a question/idea/topic/notion/thought/impression.  Please offer additional suggestions on what you, my fans,  LIKE and DISLIKE; what topics you would like to see covered, and any new ideas you may have.

I’ll be waiting for the flood of comments I receive…..

Hoarding can be a good thing…..

My Mom is a hoarder.  She is the classic hoarder, not like the ones you see on the “Hoarders” show.  My Mom collects and keeps everything, but she is a clean lady, and cleans her house often, like a mad-woman.

With the business I am in, I love the fact that my Mom is a hoarder.  She is a very talented and crafty woman; needless to say, this is where I get my talents from.  She has done every craft known to mankind on the face of this earth, and then some.  Not only does she know everything about crafting, she HAS everything that has anything to do with crafting.

Last night I drove out to my parent’s house to borrow an extra-large cutting board to cut the paper for the 250+ wedding announcements I am doing.  I forgot, her and Dad are on vacation!

YES….I got to go shopping.  I let myself into the house and went shopping at my Mom & Dad’s house!  I took my time and looked over all of the gobs of fabric, thread, pompom, patterns, ribbon, floss, ink, paint, glue, buttons, flowers, yarn, needles, etc, etc, etc.  I pulled open a few drawers and found even more stuff that was marked with price tags from…a long time ago (the old-fashioned type)!  After about 20 drawers, I decided that I’d better leave it alone, and go home.  I needed to sleep, and if I kept opening drawers, I wouldn’t get any.  With cutting pad in hand, I proceeded home, and am now on my way to finishing up the wedding invitations.  Good thing too, because they have to be completed by Saturday (yes, this Saturday).  I’ll post a picture of the invites after Saturday…

A while back Mom told me that she had a box of unused cards that she obtained from our local community drug store (unnamed).  She said that when they did not sell, and they were out of date, they would just throw them away, so she has saved them for a few years now.  When I saw that box, I thought I had hit the jackpot.  Multiple unused cards (all alike) really trips my trigger.  I am able to make multiple cards of  the famous “Recycled Cards by JillCards, LLC” creations.  By cutting up the UGLY cards, I have been able to reproduce BEAUTIFUL new Mother’s Day Cards!

How fun is that?

It really doesn’t take much to make my day!  I’m pretty content that way.  Photos of those cards will be posted later, but some can be seen on our official website (

Well, I’m off to create.  Hope you are having a good day as well!

Please check out the photos I have added…

Please check out the photos I have added, and check out our website. I would really like to know how people feel about the navigation of the site, our twitters, comments, etc. Also, check out our wedding blog. Seems a lot of people have been visiting our site for Dee Dee’s writings. Isn’t she a great author?
Thanks so much! Jill
